The much-anticipated sale of Civic Arena seats will begin today, it was announced by the Penguins and the Sports & Exhibition Authority (SEA).
AssetNation, Inc. of Seven Fields, Pa. has been engaged by the SEA to conduct the sale.
Penguins season ticket holders will have the first opportunity to purchase seats from the old building, which opened in 1961 and was home to the Penguins from their inception in 1967 through 2010. Season ticket holders have the exclusive opportunity to purchase seats between November 4 and November 30. Starting on December 1, they will go on sale to the general public.
The first round of seats will be sold in pairs for $495 (shipping cost is additional). There will be approximately 4,800 pairs of seats. The sale to the general public begins on December 1. All seats will be available on a first-come, first-served basis at
www.iglooseats.com. Requests for the purchase of specific seats will not be accepted. Due to their age, some of the Civic Arena seats contain lead-based paint. Prior to being shipped, the seats will be refurbished to remove the paint and to restore them to good working order for the enjoyment of the fans.
In addition to the seats, Civic Arena memorabilia, as well as furniture, fixtures and equipment (FF&E), will be sold in online auctions at the AssetNations website,
www.asset-auctions.com.
Due to the large volume of furniture, fixtures and equipment, those items will be sold in weekly online auctions from November through February at
www.asset-auctions.com. The first auction is scheduled to open Nov. 10 and close Nov. 17.
Items classified as memorabilia include signage, lockers, logo fixtures and carpet sections, etc. They will be sold in an online auction beginning Dec. 8 at
www.asset-auctions.com.
Items sold as memorabilia or FF&E will not be shipped and must be removed from the Arena by buyers. Removal dates will differ, but generally fall between Tuesday and Thursday during the auction period.
All buyers will be required to sign a sales agreement. Those who do not have internet access may fill out an online bid proxy form which can be obtained by calling AssetNation at 800.303.6511.
Proceeds from the sales will be divided between the SEA and the Penguins – with a portion of the Penguins’ proceeds going to the Penguins Foundation to support community youth initiatives and youth hockey.
